Kold is built around a piano melody overlayed with field recordings, made 14 years ago during a late night dnb session, recently found on an old hard drive. Stark and cold (ahem) FM sounds interact with remnants of the past to make something new, in a sort of dialog between current self and former self.

The core of Weightless was improvised in an early morning session in January, at a cabin overlooking the partially frozen Rivière du Nord, house-sitting with a close friend dealing with a traumatic injury. The simultaneous calm serenity and raging violence of the water flowing beneath the still ice, symbolizing the inexorable passage of time, provided inspiration.
